WSBK: Razgatlioglu remains with Puccetti Kawasaki
Turkish World Superbike sensation Toprak Razgatlioglu will remain with Pucetti Kawasaki in the World Superbike championship, immediately announcing after a stunning 2nd place finish in race two at Donington Park.
Toprak finished 2nd but was top Kawasaki in the Sunday afternoon race, gaining his and Turkey’s first podium in the history of World Superbikes. He came from eighth on the grid to secure his first podium, finishing just 2.3s off the race winner, Dutchman Michael van der Mark.
“I would like to thank Manuel Puccetti, Kawasaki and Kenan Sofuoglu for this big opportunity. I am really happy that I will continue to ride for the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team next season. Since 2015 we have been making a lot of success together and recently I was able to make my first podium in WorldSBK at Donington.
“The package is one of the best available and race after race we are making progresses together. Knowing that I will be able to keep growing with this team also next season is a motivation for me to do my best always. I will work hard to get as soon as possible other important results for me and for everyone that believes in me!”
It remains unclear whether the team will expand to a two rider operation in the Superbike category, with Leon Haslam making various appearances for Manuel Puccetti’s outfit. There is also yet to be an announcement on whether the team will continue in World Supersport in 2019, following the recent retirement of five-time champion, Kenan Sofuoglu – who is Razgatlioglu’s manager.
