Jamie Sharp Officially Confirms Entry for British F4
Jamie Sharp in partnership with the family owned Sharp Motorsport has officially announced his return to the F4 British Championship. The young driver will be hoping to move up the grid this season, having finished the inaugural test at Brands Hatch in fourth last week.
Sharp Motorsport have ambitions of their own, with the outfit hoping to expand to two cars for 2018 with the support of Pure Pace Performance Management, in a move similar to Richardson Racing in previous years.
Last year during his rookie campaign, Sharp recorded seven top ten finishes, resulting in fifteenth overall in the standings. Since then, the team has remained committed to the series, becoming one of the few teams to continue testing over the winter in preparation for the current season.
Jamie Sharp said about the announcement.
“I’m really looking forward to this season. We’ve been working hard over the winter and I’m confident heading into the first race on the back of all the training I have done.”
“I feel prepared for a more successful year, but we need to see how the rest of testing goes to get a more accurate picture of how competitive we are. I hope to be running at the front from the very early stages and I’m excited to see how much the team and I progress throughout the year.”
He becomes the seventh name to officially announce plans for British F4 with TRS Arden and Fortec Motorsports the only other teams to confirm drivers.
Team Boss Joe Sharp adding;
“We’ve worked incredibly hard over the winter to give Jamie the best possible chance this year.”
“Jamie’s got new management so 2018 should be a good year for us. We’re doing lots of things differently – we’ve had a year of learning now.”
New sponsors in the form of J Davidson and Kelsa Truck Products will join Sharp Motorsport with their existing supporters; Roydon Group, UK Truck Sale, Universal Bodies, The Vehicle Wrapping Centre in Leeds staying on board.
