Monster to replace Movistar as Factory Yamaha title sponsor
The Yamaha MotoGP team has announced that the Monster Energy Company will be the Title Sponsor of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team, effective from the start of the 2019 MotoGP World Championship season.
The multi-year Agreement will see the factory Yamaha team race as the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team, replacing current sponsors Movistar, who joined back in 2014. The title sponsorship strengthens the long-standing partnership between the two companies, with Monster Energy having been an Official Team Sponsor since the 2013 season. During this time, the factory Yamaha squad secured the MotoGP Triple Crown in 2015 and the Team Title in 2016, whilst finishing in the top two positions from 2013 – 2016, and becoming bronze medalists in 2017.
The collaboration between Yamaha and Monster Energy is also underlined by the presence of the world famous “claw” icon on several other Yamaha bikes in racing disciplines such as Monster Energy Supercross, AMA Motocross, MotoAmerica SuperBike & SuperSport, FIM Motocross World Championship and Suzuka 8 Hours. This global Monster Energy-Yamaha alliance will now take on an even greater significance for both companies.
Monster taking over from Movistar as title sponsor is the first time since 2006/2007 that there has been a direct switch of title sponsors, from Camel Tobacco to Fiat. In 2014, Movistar became the first title sponsor of the Yamaha team since Valentino Rossi left the manufacturer in 2010, which subsequently led to Fiat also leaving.
