BSB: Ellison looking for “strong end to the season” as Oulton Park beckons
James Ellison has had a difficult year at the TAG Racing Yamaha team but is still as determined as ever to prove that he is more than capable of securing top results. The Anvil Hire Tag Racing Yamaha team finished 2nd with Josh Brookes in 2017 but have missed the Showdown this weekend, meaning that the remaining rounds are all for pride and glory before Ellison bows out of the British Superbike Championship.
“I’m looking forward to getting back out on the bike at Oulton Park, it’s a great track and I want to be able to give my fans and the team something to shout about. Silverstone was a tough event for us but that is behind us now and I’m fully focussed on having a good round here,” said Ellison, who has enjoyed one win at Oulton Park back in 2013.
“Oulton Park will suit our bike well, we’ve seen that in the past and I believe this weekend will not be any different. After Cadwell where we tried the new link that the team worked on we felt it would work well at Oulton because of the undulations the circuit has, because it did improve our performance and the way the bike worked at Cadwell.
“I want to have a strong end to the season, the team nor I should be where we are and they’re all working so hard the results aren’t showing in any way the effort we are putting in, but I’m confident that will change this weekend.”
The Anvil Hire Tag Racing Yamaha team have had great success at the Oulton Park circuit too, with at least one top ten in every season at the circuit dating back to 2014 (excluding 2016) and with a podium with Josh Brookes last season too. Ellison will be looking to crack the top ten at the Oulton Park circuit for the first time this season, having just missed out on the top ten at the track earlier this year.
