Formula E: Lotterer Joins New Porsche FE Team for 2019-20
Andre Lotterer has joined the incoming Porsche Formule E team who will debut in the 2019/20 season. Lotterer leaves behind a vacant seat at this years double title winning DS Techeetah team.
Lotterer joins up with fellow Porsche driver Neel Jani as the German squad complete their line-up, becoming one of only three outfits to confirm both drivers.
Rumours of Lotterer joining the Porsche Formula E setup had been running around ever since the announcement that the manufacturer was joining the series. Lotterer has been a Porsche factory driver since 2017 when he joined up with the WEC squad.
Speaking on the new deal, Lotterer said;
I’m really looking forward to competing for Porsche in the ABB FIA Formula E championship in the 2019/2020 season. I have been part of the Porsche family since 2017 and have lots of great memories of joint successes – particularly when working with Neel.”
“We drove together in the Porsche LMP1 team in 2017, and drove for Rebellion Racing in the WEC these past two years. It’s great that we will now be the driver pairing for the Porsche Formula E team. “I’m looking forward to the new task and to the future collaboration with the team.” – Andre Lotterer
Lotterer’s move opens up a fantastic opportunity for a driver to join up with this seasons championship winning team, DS Techeetah.
With the exception of Audi Abt Schaffler, Venturi, Envision Virgin and Porsche no team has announced their driver line-up for season 6. Expect Mark Preston’s phone to be inundated with calls and messages from a whole crop of talented drivers.
