Drag Racing: Check out the Action as VW Breakout Headlines SantaPod

This weekend Santa Pod steps back into a more relaxed drag racing showcase with a VW themed lifestyle event. All weekend there is a Run What You Bring (RWYB) for any Volkswagen group vehicle, demo runs from the Fireforce jet car, and championship events for Outlaw Anglia, Nostalgia Superstock, Gasser Circus, Supercharged Outlaws and VWDRC Heads Up, as well as a VAG Show ‘n’ Shine.

The three day event is open for fans, so if you’re looking for something to do over the next two days, head down to Bedfordshire this weekend.

Outlaw Anglia

There is a possibility for Colin Webster or John Miller to run the first six-second pass in the class in the UK. A popular class for 1940s Anglia bodied cars with no other restrictions.

Nostalgia Superstock

This is a very popular class for 60s and 70s V8 muscle cars that must run 15 seconds or quicker. Look out for Don Scott in his Plymouth Firebird, Dan William’s in his Chevelle and James Oliver in his Pontiac Firebird. Also watch those front wheels lift off the line!

Supercharged outlaws

Some great cars using supercharged motors to rocket down the strip. Look out for Steve Wright in the AMC Pacer and Paul Dale in his bonkers 5.7 V8 Anglia.

Gasser Circus

Big burnouts, wheelies and high suspension, these are the weirder of the classes, but watch out for Nick Allen in the Corvette, Sean Milisom in the Morris Z Van and Sean Matthew’s in the Chevy 210 Sedan

VWDRC Heads Up

In our humble opinion, the best class. Open to any club member to run their VAG car as fast as possible, there is a massive variety on display. Look out for Jose Leite in the tuned 1.9tdi Polo, Bruce Kopasz in his Porsche 924 and Richard Webb in his 2.0 Beetle Cabrio.
