BSB: Silverstone – Who was where
The first of 11 rounds of British Superbike racing wrapped up on Sunday at a sunny Silverstone Circuit. Yamaha have historically been front runners at Silverstone so the three Yamaha riders were pre-race favourites.
However, Honda were the manufacturer who blazed a path of glory with the Fireblade.
Honda Racing UK:
Glenn Irwin:
Irwin picked up some big injuries in preseason and many believed he would struggle at Silverstone. Whereas he set out to prove all the doubters wrong after he secured pole position on Saturday. In the three races his mind set did not change as he smashed the opposition and took all three victories. Irwin walks away from Silverstone with 75 points to his name already.
Tom Neave:
The 2021 National Superstock champion made his debut in British Superbikes on the weekend. He may not have matched his more experienced teammate, but he was impressive. Neave scored points in all three races and leaves Silverstone 13th in the championship. A good start to 2022 for the rookie.
Ryo Mizuno:
No points were scored by the Japanese rider this weekend but he did have a positive weekend as he picked up a 17th and 20th place finish in the races that he did finish.
Takumi Takahashi:
Takahashi also failed to score points this weekend, but he did finish all three races. The Japanese rider finished 16th, 16th and 17th throughout the weekend as he narrowly missed out on the points.

Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha:
Kyle Ryde:
Where victory may have slipped through Ryde’s grasp at Silverstone he still put on a tremendous show. Ryde finished 2nd in both race one and two and then dropped back to 10th place in race three. ‘Youth’ finds himself in second place in the championship standings after round one as he leads the chasing pack.
Bradley Ray:
One of the fastest riders from preseason also put on a stellar show at round one. Ray finished 3rd in race one and 2nd in race three but found himself in the gravel after crashing out of the lead in race two. Ray is now fifth in the championship after three races, he is 10 points behind his teammate.

FS-3 Racing Kawasaki:
Rory Skinner:
Skinner put together an incredible opening weekend to his second BSB season. The young Scotsman finished 4th, 3rd and 4th in the three races throughout the weekend. Skinner and Kawasaki will be chuffed to see themselves in 3rd in the championship.
Lee Jackson:
‘Lee-bob’ did not manage to match his young teammate, but he still had a good weekend. Jackson finds himself in 7th in the championship after round one. Jackson finished 9th, 4th and 8th throughout the weekend.

SYNETIQ BMW Motorrad:
Andrew Irwin:
The younger Irwin brother had a consistent weekend, while his brother destroyed the field. Irwin took his BMW to 6th, 5th and 3rd as he improved across the weekend. It is an Irwin 1st and 4th in the current championship standings after round one.
Danny Buchan:
Buchan had a slower start to the weekend but he managed to improve across the weekend. Across the weekend Buchan finished in 10th, 9th and 6th as he fought his way through the field during the weekend. Buchan is now in 9th place in the championship going into round two.
McAMS Yamaha:
Jason O’Halloran:
Many expected the O’Show to be at the front of the pack throughout this weekend. However, he could not find his way into the podium positions. O’Halloran finished 5th, 6th and 5th this weekend and is now 6th in the championship. A decent start but not the start many expected for O’Halloran.

Oxford Products Racing Ducati:
Tommy Bridewell:
Bridewell was the top Ducati rider from the opening weekend of racing at Silverstone. The Oxford Products Racing Ducati man managed to finish 7th, 8th and 7th again across the weekend. Bridewell now sits in 8th in the championship but will be confident going to Oulton Park.
FHO Racing BMW:
Peter Hickman:
Hickman appeared to struggle this weekend but has admitted he does not like the short Silverstone layout. Hickman rounds out the top ten in the championship as he sits 10th. In the three races Hickman finished 11th, 7th and 9th across the weekend.
Ryan Vickers:
Vickers looked to struggle to adapt to his new BMW in his first race weekend on the machine. He only managed to score points in two of the three races and now sits 15th overall. Vickers only manage 14th, 13th and 19th in round one.
Buildbase Suzuki:
Christian Iddon:
After switching from Paul Bird Motorsport to Buildbase Suzuki Iddon had a decent start to life on his new machine. Iddon finished 8th, 10th and 11th in the three races and now sits 11th overall in the championship.
Danny Kent:
The former Moto3 champion did not have a great opening weekend at Silverstone. Kent finds himself down in 18th in the championship. The number 52 only managed 17th, 18th and 15th across the weekend.
MCE Ducati:
Josh Brookes:
The two time British Superbike champion did not start his 2022 campaign off the way he would have wanted. After only managing 13th, 11th and 18th place from round one there is a lot for Brookes to figure out. Especially since he is 12th in the championship.
Tom Sykes:
The former World Superbike champion may be a crowd puller but his results were not amazing. Sykes finished 12th and 16th but crashed out in race two. Sykes’ adaptation to the Ducati and BSB specification bikes means he ends round one in 16th place overall.

iForce BMW:
Dan Linfoot:
Linfoot had a decent return to the Superbike class as he now sits 14th in the championship standings. Linfoot finished 12th and 14th in race two and three but did not finish the first race of the season.
Dan Jones:
Jones made his debut in the British Superbike class this weekend and put in a valiant effort across the weekend. He finished 21st and 22nd in race one and three but was taken out on the first lap of race two. Jones will have learnt a lot from round one to take into the rest of the season.
VisionTrack Kawasaki:
Leon Haslam:
It was not the return to BSB that the 2018 British champion would have wanted. Haslam finished 17th overall and only managed to score points in two races. Haslam finished 15th and 13th in race two and three but did not finish race one because of a mechanical problem.

Rapid CDH Racing Kawasaki:
Josh Owens:
Owens starts his 2022 season off just outside of the points as he finished 18th and 21st in race one and three but did not finish race two.
Liam Delves:
Delves did not have a great start to his BSB career. He finished 28th and 23rd and did not finish the third race of the weekend.
TAG Racing Honda:
Luke Mossey:
Mossey failed to score points on his BSB return with the TAG Racing Honda team. He finished 19th and then failed to finish in race two and race three of the weekend.
Black Onyx Security Honda:
Luke Hopkins:
No points for Hopkins in the opening round of the season. He finished 25th, 20th and 23rd in the three races.
Powerslide/Catfoss Suzuki:
Bjorn Estment:
Estment was another rider who finished out of the points throughout the weekend. He finished 23rd in race one and then did not finish race two and did not start race three.
Team LKQ Euro Car Parts Kawasaki:
Storm Stacey:
Stacey started off with a 20th place finish in race one. However, he did not finish in race two or three as he crashed out of the race.

DAO Racing Kawasaki:
Dean Harrison:
Harrison starts his second full BSB campaign as he prepares for road racing to begin. A 22nd place finish was all Harrison could manage throughout the weekend.
Crowe Performance BMW:
Chrissy Rouse:
Rouse made his return to BSB but this time for a full season. However, he did not manage to finish a race this weekend. This is because a mechanical problem ruled him out of race one and then a crash in race two ruled him out of race three.
Specsavers Suzuki:
Leon Jeacock:
Jeacock made his debut in BSB this weekend with the Specsavers Suzuki team. But their weekend was not great as they finished 26th, 22nd and 25th in the races. However, he would have gained a lot of experience and knowledge from the opening races.
The next round of BSB will be at Oulton Park in two weeks time.
However, you can join our discussion about BSB here on Motorsport Radio on Wednesday evening at 7pm on The Superbike Show.
