
Moto3: Introduction to the 2023 rookies
The 2023 Moto3 season is quickly approaching, and there are many young talents wanting to make their mark in the series. So, who are the rookies of Moto3 in 2023?
Filippo Farioli
Filippo Farioli is a young Italian who has signed for the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team for the 2023 season. The 17-year-old will be joined by Dani Holgado at Tech3, who has already spent one year with the squad.
Farioli has a strong connection with Red Bull, as he competed in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2022. He would finish ninth in the standings in the Rookies Cup, where he would consistently battle at the front.
The Italian also competed In the FIM JuniorGP World Championship in 2022, where he would ride for GasGas. He would finish third in the championship standings, claiming six podiums and one race win.
At the 2022 Valencian Grand Prix, GasGas would give Farioli a shot at the Moto3 World championship. He would wildcard at the final round, qualifying 19th on the grid and finishing 19th in the race.
David Salvador
David Salvador will join the grid for his first full-time ride in 2023, where he will join the CIP Green Power team. Salvador will be joined by Frenchman, Lorenzo Fellon, who switches from the SIC58 Squadra Corse team.
Salvador made five wildcard appearances in the Moto3 World Championship in 2022, with a best result of 18th at Valencia. He would race with the Sterilgarda Husqvarna Moto3 team, run by Max Biaggi.
The Spanish rider was originally meant to race in the Moto3 for 2022 but had to back out of the deal before the season started. He would race in the JuniorGP instead, and finished second in the championship, with one win and five podiums.

Syarifuddin Azman
Syarifuddin Azman will make the step up to the Moto3 world championship in 2023 with the MT Helmets team. He will be joined by Diogo Moreira, who will compete in his second season in Moto3.
In the JuniorGP championship, Azman would race in the SIC Racing team, finishing fourth in the standings. The Malaysian would take three podiums throughout the year, earning him a spot on the grid.
Azman is no stranger to the paddock, taking part in multiple wildcards in Moto3 in 2022 in Spain, Portugal and Malaysia. His best result would be in Malaysia, where the 21-year-old would finish 19th.
David Alonso
Columbian David Alonso will race for the Aspar GasGas team in 2023, stepping up from JuniorGP. He will join Ryusei Yamanaka, who makes the switch from the MT Helmets squad, riding a KTM.
Alonso would race in the Red Bull Rookie cup in 2021, winning the championship and beating riders like Moreira and Holgado. The Colombian would take six race wins and 11 podiums to give him the title.
He would ride for the Aspar junior team in 2022, taking one podium and one race win in the process. The 16-year-old would finish seventh in the championship and continue his relationship with Aspar.
Collin Veijer
The 2022 Red Bull Rookies Cup runner-up, Collin Veijer, will race for the newly formed Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP team. Alongside him will be Amumu Sasaki, who has already raced with Husqvarna.
Veijer would take three race wins and seven podiums, taking the title to the final round at Valencia. The 17-year-old would also race in JuniorGP, where he would have his best season yet.
Speaking about his year, Veijer said: “The level will be higher, and everyone is fast, so there is no time to relax. I need to be always 100% focussed in every session and working on the bike.”

Jose Antonio Rueda
Jose Antonio Rueda had an incredibly successful 2022 season, winning multiple championships. The Spanish rider will move up to the class with Aki Ajo’s Red Bull KTM team, and will have Deniz Oncu as a teammate.
Rueda has had great success with KTM, becoming the 2022 Red Bull Rookie champion after a season-long battle. With three race wins, Rueda would have an incredibly consistent year, finishing inside the top 10 in all races.
He would ride for the Estrella Galicia Honda team in JuniorGP and would experience as much success. The Spaniard would win five races and nine podiums in the year, allowing him to become the 2022 JuniorGP champion.
With many rookies in 2023, it will be an incredible season with young talent coming from across the globe. We await to see who will be the first to leave their mark on the World Championship.
