BSB: Stacey and Francis continue with GR Motosport
GR Motosport has announced the team’s 2023 line-up with Storm Stacey and Joe Francis continuing to the team.
Storm Stacey will return for his third season in the British Superbike Championship, first signing in 2020. It will be his fourth year with GR Motosport, first racing with the squad in Superstock 600.
Joe Francis will spend his second season with GR Motosport, continuing in the National Superstock Championship. He finished 14th in the 2022 National Superstock Championship, in his first season riding the new Kawasaki.
Stacey moved to the Superbike class in 2020 and was on course to become the youngest debutant. Stacey received special dispensation from the ACU, he would sign his first Superbike contract at 16 years old.
However, he would not be able to become the youngest debutant, with the 2020 season getting delayed. Stacey would miss out on this record by a matter of weeks, he would end the shortened season in 22nd.
He would continue with the team, finishing 18th in the 2022 British Superbike Championship. Throughout 2022 Storm would consistently finish in the top 10, taking his best finish at Knockhill, with a ninth place.
Stacey said: “I am super pleased to have signed with GR Motosport again as there are a few changes going into the new season and I am excited about that! It should be a good year and I think that the door is open for us to aim for the top ten and pinch a few top fives!
“I am looking forward to getting back to the tracks and seeing the BSB fans again as it is never the same over the winter!”
Francis would return to the National Superstock Championship in 2022, after a year in the Superbike class. He would ride for PR Racing BMW and for the FHO Racing team, competing in the final two rounds with the squad.
Joe Francis would have a great 2022 season, achieving multiple top 10 finishes throughout the year. He would claim his best result of seventh at Snetterton, at the eighth round of the Superstock Championship.
Francis said: “I’m very happy to be continuing with GR Motosport and the STAUFF Fluid Power Kawasaki for the 2023 Superstock season. I am looking forward to putting all of the hard work from last season together so that we can hit the ground running for round one. Testing can’t come quick enough! It’s a great opportunity and I am thankful to Brent and everyone for believing in me.”
Team Owner, Brent Gladwin added: “We are excited about 2023 so it’s really good to be able to continue with Storm and Joe, as both riders have great potential with the Team for the coming season.
“We do have quite a few new changes happening which will be revealed shortly, but importantly for the moment, I am pleased to say that STAUFF Fluid Power will continue their title partnership of the Superstock team into a brilliant tenth season.
“Watch this space, as I am really looking forward to unveiling the new and celebratory liveries for 2023 to you all very soon.”
