BSB: Johnny Garness injury update
Johnny Garness gives an update on his condition and his future at Brands Hatch
The 2022 British Talent Cup champion, Johnny Garness was back at a race track at Brands Hatch watching from the sidelines. Garness is currently on the road to recovery after suffering a crash during a test at Estoril.
Speaking at Brands Hatch about his condition, Garness said: “I am all fine, but it is just a long recovery, especially with my brain and neck. So many little things are going on which I just have to wait for.” Johnny added that currently there is no timeline for a return and that they are currently awaiting results.
Garness said: “We have no clue we are not going to rush into it and we still haven’t had our results back from the scan for an update. It will let us know everything and if that goes well then maybe we can do next year, it’s not the end of the world as I can always come back two years later.”
Johnny Garness dominated the 2022 British Talent Cup Championship, taking 14 podiums including 12 wins. Garness led 136 laps throughout the season, dominating for the VisionTrack team. He would sign for the team for another season in 2023, racing in British Talent Cup and the European Talent Cup.
Talking about this weekend Johnny added: “I’d rather be on track than spectating, but it is still nice to be here I‘ve got no stress so I can just walk around and speak to the riders”
Johnny also said that currently, he believes that Evan Belford is his Championship favourite as he leads by 62 points. Belford has taken seven podiums so far this season, including four race wins.
Speaking about the current British Talent Cup standings, Garness commented: “It’s going as I expected with Brinton and Belford battling at the top. It’s really nice to watch with the boys in a group and Belford sometimes clearing off”
Johnny also wanted to thank everyone for all the support throughout his recovery: “There were so many nice comments that put a smile on my face and helped me get through it”
