BTC: Evan Belford dominates Race Two at Brands Hatch

Evan Belford dominates Race Two at Brands Hatch and extends his Championship lead.

Evan Belford (City Lifting / RS Racing)  was on pole position, with Alexander Rowan (Mortimer Racing Victoria House Academy) with Lucas Brown (Amphibian Scaffolding / SP125 Racing)  rounding out the front row. It was sunny conditions at Brands Hatch as the riders awaited to race for the second time this weekend.

Belford shot off into the lead at turn one with Rowan managing to hold onto second position at the start. Sullivan Mounsey (Wilson Racing / Maddison Media) eventually found a way through into second position on the opening lap.

Amanuel Brinton (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) made an incredible start to his race making his way into third. Brinton qualified in ninth after a disappointing Race One in the wet conditions.

Ronnie Harris (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) made his way inside of the top 10 as he continues to impress in his first full season. Harris spent the opening stages of the race having an amazing battle with Harrison Dessoy (Microlise Cresswell Racing / Eastern Garage).

Ollie Walker (VisionTrack Racing Team) was having a great ride once again at Brands Hatch as he stayed inside the top 10. 

Rhys Stephenson (Rocket Racing) worked through the night with his team to get his bike race ready for Race Two. Stephenson broke countless of parts in his crash, including his frame, subframe, fairings, and more.

Harley McCabe (McCabe Racing) made his way past Mounsey to take third place from the #4 rider. The two riders began to close the gap between themselves and Brinton with tension beginning to build. Six laps remained the race was heating up as quickly as the temperatures in the sun at Brands Hatch. 

Amanuel Brinton crashed out of the race damaging his Championship challenge once again on the RS Racing machine. Brinton lost the front and brought a premature end to his race and promoted McCabe into second.

At the front it was still Evan Belford who led the way, continuing his dominant run in the dry conditions. Belford also set the fastest lap of the race with a 1’36.149 and an over eight-second lead. All eyes were on the battle for second position with nothing separating the two heading into the final lap of the race.

At the line, it was Evan Belford who took his fifth race win of the season after another perfect ride. Belford claimed his eighth podium of the season and extended his championship lead to 62 points.

Harley McCabe took second place after a fantastic battle for second which was a drag race to the line. Sullivan Mounsey rounded out the podium, finishing 12 seconds ahead of Lucas Brown.

Ronnie Harris had an unbelievable final five laps, finishing in fifth position and claiming his best finish of the season. Ryan Frost (Talentum Motorsport by Azure Notions) was in sixth ahead of Harrison Dessoy. Rhys Stephenson rounded out the top eight on the repaired Rocket Racing machine.

Amanuel Brinton now drops to fourth place in the Championship standings with all still to play for at Silverstone next round.
