Joe Roberts has signed for the American Racing team for 2024.
Joe Roberts will return to his roots, signing for the American Racing team for the 2024 Moto2 season. The American Racing team will once again add an American rider to their Grand Prix line-up.
Last racing for the team in the 2020 Moto2 season, achieving an impressive seventh position in the 15-round season. Roberts took one podium in 2020, achieving a third-place finish at Styria. He finished just 46 points behind Remy Gardner who would later become the 2021 Moto2 World Champion.
Joe Roberts left the team at the end of 2020 after two seasons, later joining the Italtrans Racing Team. The highlight of his time at Italtrans Racing came in 2022, with a win a the Portuguese Grand Prix. Roberts took his first race win in 2022 – becoming the first American intermediate class winner since John Kosinski in 1990.
Rory Skinner looks to be Robert’s teammate for next season with the Scotsman signing a two-year deal for 2023. There has been no announcement where Sean Dylan Kelly will move to next season. Currently, Marcos Ramirez is replacing Dylan Kelly in the team with the American posting on social media that there will be news soon.
Joe Roberts said: “I’m excited to be back with American Racing. We had a great season together in 2020 and feel we can bring that magic back again next season so I’m looking forward to continuing what Eitan, John, Avner, and I started.”
Eitan Butbul, American Racing Team Co-Owner added: “I’m very, very excited to have Joe back with American Racing for the 2024 season. Our journey started together in 2019 when we first acquired the team and then continued to 2020, where Joe had a great year resulting in the best season the team has had to date.
We both feel that we have unfinished business and it’s time to get together and fight for the 2024 Championship! I know that Joe is in the best shape of his career, and it feels great to see him coming back home to the team. With this combination, we believe we can make America great again.”
