Bagnaia to Pramac Ducati in 2019 and 2020
Ex Moto3 race winner and 2018 Moto2 championship challenger Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia will make his MotoGP debut in 2019, joining the Alma Pramac Racing Ducati team on a two year deal that he signed directly with Ducati. The news comes on the same day that BT Sport renewed their broadcasting writes in Great Britain.
Bagnaia had a stellar 2017 Moto2 season, finishing in every single race, with just two finishes outside the points. The Sky VR46 rider also took four podiums, with a best of 2nd in back to back races at Jerez and Le Mans.
The Italian stays with the VR46 Kalex Moto2 outfit for 2018, in a search for his first Grand Prix world championship and his first Moto2 win. Bagnaia also becomes the first rider from the VR46 academy who has been supported since Moto3 to make it to the premier class – as Franco Morbidelli never competed full-time in Moto3.
This ground-breaking revelation has now set off an intense 2018 MotoGP silly season. There will now only be one machine left at Pramac Ducati, with that honour potential being fought over by Danilo Petrucci and new signing, Jack Miller. However, there is nothing concrete to suggest that it will be either of these riders, despite both of them performing outstandingly well in testing
