BREAKING: Syahrin remains in MotoGP and Tech 3, heads to KTM
2018 MotoGP revelation Hafizh Syahrin will be on the MotoGP grid for another season, remaining with Tech 3 and heading to the KTM machines. The Malaysian youngster has impressed everyone in his rookie season, having scored a best result of 9th in Argentina. He has scored points in four out of the first six races and considering he missed a whole test at Sepang, Syahrin is doing a fine job indeed.
“It’s hard for me to talk about this, and to believe it! First of all, I have to say thank you very much to Herve for trusting in me and giving me this opportunity to stay with the Tech3 family and at the same time to join the KTM family. I also have to express a huge thank you to my manager Razlan, who helped me to achieve this dream arriving to the MotoGP class, plus thank you to KTM for believing in Hervé and in me. I will work hard for 2019 and I’ll be better prepared. I’m incredibly happy to get this chance.”
This also secures the Malaysian market for Dorna, who are expecting record numbers at the Malaysian Grand Prix this season, with fans waiting in much anticipation to see a competitive home-hero in the premier class. Sepang, for the last two seasons, has been soaking wet and Syahrin’s wet weather prowess gained him the nickname, ‘Pescao’, translating as ‘The Fish’ in English.
The 24-year-old will look to get more points at the next round of the championship at Catalunya, where he has finished inside the top ten in Moto2 for the previous two seasons. The Tech 3 Yamahas of Johann Zarco and Jonas Folger finished in 5th and 6th at the race last season.
