British GT: Chen Joins Century In BMW M4 GT3
Century Motorsport has announced the first of its two drivers for its GT3 campaign in the 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship with the new BMW M4 GT3.
Betty Chen will form the Am element in a Pro-Am partnership with Chen’s co-driver to be announced next week.
Betty Chen has experience in BMWs having contested the 2019 China GT Championship in the M6 GT3 alongside Jody Fannin. The global pandemic restricted the 21-year-old’s racing activities in Asia with the result that Chen has looked further afield to continue to develop her driving talent.
“I started my career in 2018 with some GT3 racing in Asia but knew the grassroots of motorsport had always been in the United Kingdom,” said Betty Chen. “So it is a privilege to have the chance to join Century Motorsport in the 2022 British GT Championship and further establish my CV outside of Asia.”
Century Motorsport has also announced the remaining driver for its second GT4 pairing. Tom Rawlings, who, with Moh Ritson, finished second in the GTH driver standings in the 2021 GT Cup championship, will join Chris Salkeld in the team’s BMW M4 GT4.
“I am extremely excited to be joining the championship-winning Century Motorsport team and linking up with Chris Salkeld in the BMW M4 GT4 in what is the pinnacle of GT racing in the UK,” said Rawlings. “After a successful season, finishing second in GT Cup last year, this is going to be an exciting step up and one I’m honoured to take.”
The 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park on April 16 – 18.
