British Talent Cup: O’Shea Promoted to Red Bull Rookies
Eddie O’Shea has been selected to ride in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup next year following his impressive British Talent Cup season.
The WAM rider collected five podiums and was only narrowly denied victory in Race 2 at Snetterton by two thousands of a second. His consistency saw him lead the table standings for much of the latter part of the season. He only missed out on fighting for the crown in the final race due to a crash of no fault of his own.
O’Shea ended the year in third overall and displayed formidable pace and progress throughout the season, earning him his promotion.

Under normal circumstances, two British Talent Cup riders would have earned the step up to the Red Bull Rookies. However, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the 2020 selection even. Dorna instead took the decision to promote one Talent Cup rider directly.
The Rookies Cup underlined its reputation as a talent pool for the premier class with their first MotoGP champion this year in Joan Mir.
The Spaniard competed in the series in 2013 and -14. In his second year, he finished runner-up to Jorge Martin; both are now Moto3 world champions.
