BRSCC Forms Landmark Partnership with Racing Pride
The BRSCC (British Racing & Sports Car Club) has proudly announced a new partnership with Racing Pride for 2020 and beyond.
Racing Pride was established in the middle of 2019 and is an innovative movement supported by Stonewall UK to positively promote LGBTQ+ inclusivity through motorsport.
Uniting motorsport as a whole to bring significant and lasting change are the intentions as well as the commitment to break down the stereotypes and inequalities that exist in motorsport, combined with the BRSCC’s willingness to make motorsport more inclusive are the signs of a promising partnership.
The new landmark partnership is the first time an organising club in the UK has openly embraced and welcomed all people.
Antoine Maratray from BRSCC HQ said:
“As a Racing Club, we strive to get people of all backgrounds involved in the sport and promoting inclusivity in motorsport has been one of our goals for a number of years. Our ongoing partnership with W Series is a great example of making a positive impact in this sport and we certainly want to continue our efforts.”
Maraytray went on to praise Racing Pride and what they have done so far:
“Racing Pride has been a superb Champion for LGBTQ+ participants in the sport so far and we are very excited to work with their team and ambassadors to spread a message of tolerance and inclusivity in the sport.”
The BRSCC and Racing Pride’s partnership will shine a light on competitors, officials and volunteers who break down the barriers and stereotypes that exist within the sport.
Speaking to Motorsport Radio the club said:
“The BRSCC will simply not tolerate abuse or discrimination of any kind, and in the event of anti-LGBT incidents, we know that we can count on Racing Pride to help us deal with it efficiently.
“However, we do believe that this partnership will now make such incidents even less likely. This partnership will put us in a prime position to receive feedback from Racing Pride on their experiences as LGBT Participants in motorsport.
“As an organising club, we want to use this feedback to create the most welcoming environment for all participants. One of the long-term goals of this partnership is to create guidelines for inclusive practice in motorsport.”
Plans are well under way to make the partnership and active and engaging relationship.
In a statement, the BRSCC added:
“The BRSCC and Racing Pride have already got plans in the pipeline to collaborate and create content that will not only promote inclusivity in motorsport, but also interest fans in general.
“In addition, we will include Racing Pride in our promotional activities, we will for example make Racing Pride stickers available at our race meetings, enabling drivers or marshals to show their support.
“We will also feature Racing Pride on our Newsletter and other promotional channels on a regular basis, but what we look forward to the most is engaging with the motorsport community through the stories we will share.”
Finally, Richard Morris, co-founder and Racing Pride Driver Ambassador concluded:
“Partnering with the BRSCC represents a great milestone and an amazing opportunity for Racing Pride.
“Having a relationship with one of the largest organising clubs in British circuit racing will enable Racing Pride’s message of inclusivity and tolerance to reach thousands of participants across dozens of series.”
The new partnership is set to inspire the motorsport world and make a positive impact on the sport.
