BSB: Casey O’Gorman to debut in British Supersport at Cadwell Park
Casey O’Gorman will join OMG Racing for the remainder of the British Supersport season.
Casey O’Gorman will make his British Supersport debut at Cadwell Park onboard the OMG Racing Yamaha R6. The 16-year-old previously raced for the team at Thruxton in the Junior Superstock class.
At Thruxton, the 2021 British Talent Cup Champion qualified on the front row of the grid, in second position. However, in the race, O’Gorman made contact with another rider, causing both riders to DNS from the race
Casey O’Gorman is currently ninth in the European Talent Cup standings, ahead of Ruche Moodley. So far this season, O’Gorman has claimed back-to-back two podiums at Portimao and Catalunya.
The 16-year-old is also racing in the Red Bull Rookies Cup this season, where he enters his second year in the Championship. He is currently seventh in the standings and claimed his first podium of the season in Mugello finishing in second place.
O’Gorman said: “I’m looking forward to continuing with the team after a strong performance at Thruxton. We didn’t get the chance to show our true potential in the race, so I’m excited for a new challenge learning the Cadwell track and the Supersport bike!”
Team Owner Alan Gardner commented: “Casey has something rare in the modern world of motorcycle racing – raw, natural talent. He’s a name I’ve followed for a while, and when the opportunity came to put him on the Junior Superstock R6 at Thruxton, it was one we couldn’t pass up.
“I’m genuinely excited to have him onboard for the rest of the season, and I think he’s going to upset more than a few big names with his results from the off.”
Team Principal Paul Curran added: “Casey has been on my radar for a while, and following the weekend at Thruxton I was impressed with not only his genuine natural talent, but his attitude too.
“He has a real drive to succeed, and I think will be the perfect addition to LAMI OMG Racing for the remainder of the season. Will we see him on a Superbike in 12 months’ time? Stranger things have happened!”
