BSB: Elliott and OMG Racing together for 2019
OMG Racing UK Suzuki are delighted to announce that Ulsterman Josh Elliott will return to the Superbike team for the 2019 season, partnering Luke Mossey on board the Suzuki GSX-R1000. Josh bedded-in well with the team in their debut season in the Bennetts British Superbike paddock, taking them to race wins in National Superstock 1000 before taking the opportunity to graduate to the premier class of British motorsport: the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
Elliott first came to fame in the UK when he stormed to the 2015 National Superstock 1000 title, taking a sensational five wins and six 2nd-places, finishing ahead of former champion Alastair Seeley and race winners such as Hudson Kennaugh and Adam Jenkinson. Josh stayed in the class for 2016 and placed 5th overall, with a win at Oulton Park – this time, on a different manufacturer.
Josh joined the OMG Racing family for the fourth round of 2018 in the National Superstock 1000 championship, showcasing his versatility by quickly adapting to the Suzuki and taking OMG’s first ever win at Thruxton. Six podiums and a few wins later, the 24-year-old from Ballinamallard was promoted to the premier class at Assen and found himself running inside the top 10 in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch, an incredible way to cap off his first season with the team.
“I’m so happy to be riding for OMG Racing in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship next season! This is something I’ve been working hard for and I’m very grateful to the owners and our Team Principal, Paul Curran, for giving me the opportunity,” said the 2015 National Superstock 1000 champ.
“It’s going to be ultra competitive next year in BSB and I’m really looking forward to the challenge! I can’t wait to get back out on the OMG Racing Suzuki in Cartagena this week and the preparations are already underway to build on what we learned last season.”
The OMG Racing team are also looking forward to working with Josh again in 2019. OMG had the pleasure of leading practice sessions and running top six in races in 2018, an outstanding achievement for an all-new team. With testing on the horizon and a year of valuable data banked, 2019 is set to be an incredible year for OMG Racing – who have also quickly turned into something of a fan favourite outfit on the BSB grid.
“The owners O, M and G are very excited that Josh Elliott will be partnering Luke in the upcoming 2019 Bennetts British Superbike season”, said the ‘M’, Greg McPhail.
“Josh gave the team some great results on our stock bike last season and in the two meetings on the full OMG superbike at Assen and Brands Hatch, demonstrating he is a real prospect for the future!
“We as a team have high hopes for 2019 and the upcoming test at Cartagena where Josh will be able to spend some good time on the OMG Superbike. The season really can’t come too soon for OMG!”
Team principal Paul Curran is likewise excited to be reunited with Josh Elliott for another season. Curran spearheaded OMG Racing’s debut season and under his command, the team look to be back in a bigger and better way.
“I am really happy to have Josh on board for the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship season, with the two rounds he did last season with no testing at all we were pleased with the results and the pace that he showed.
“With a full season and testing schedule and mentally knowing that it’s his bike for the year can only bring good things. It will be a good year for him and we can look to build and improve on his setup and performances at the end of last season.”
