BSB: Haslam consolidates Showdown after ‘worst circuit’ weekend
Leon Haslam of the JG Speedfit Kawasaki squad gave the team something to shout about at the start of the racing on Sunday. The Bournemouth based team were at their home event and Leon Haslam took a race one win with a thrilling last lap pass on fellow Kawasaki rider Jake Dixon, although the latter beat him to the last step on the rostrum during race two.
“It was a good weekend, we extended the championship lead and the podium credits, and I got my first ever win at Thruxton, so all of that is really positive.
“In race two we really struggled, the temperature was a bit higher and so was the pace and the tyres just dropped off. I wasn’t on the SC0 so couldn’t push as hard as I would have liked and lost the podium place on the last lap.
“We will walk away from our worst circuit of the year and move onto my favourite which is Cadwell next. Thanks to all the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team for all their hard work this weekend.”
Haslam now heads to Cadwell Park, a circuit at which he won at last year, although he crashed out in race two. The ‘pocket Rocket’ has won at Cadwell Park in every single BSB year he was been a full time rider and looks set to build on his seven wins at the track.
