BSB: IN Competition Aprilia signs Lewis Rollo
Lewis Rollo will return to the IN Competition Aprilia for the 2023 Pirelli National Superstock Championship.
Lewis Rollo will race an Aprilia RSV4 this season, as he joins the IN Competition Aprilia team for 2023. He will return to the Aprilia team which Rollo previously raced with, in the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
Rollo had great success with the IN Competition Aprilia team, taking multiple podiums and race wins. His best season with the team came in 2020 when the Scotsman would finish third in the Championship standings. He would take three podiums, including one race win, in a very consistent 2020 season.
The Scotsman raced for the Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycle Honda in 2022, finishing ninth in the standings. Rollo’s teammate, Davey Todd would take the 2022 Pirelli National Superstock Championship.
The IN Competition Aprilia team had a total of three riders in 2022. Tom Ward, Tom Oliver and Matt Truelove would race for the team throughout the year, with Tom Ward finishing sixth in the standings.
Rollo said: “I’m coming home! I can’t explain how happy I am to be back in the IN Competition Team for 2023 competing in the National Superstock Championship on board the RSV4 Aprilia.
“Knowing Ian and Myra since I was 12 years old, winning the Aprilia Superteen Championship, supporting me through the Aprilia 450 Challenge, to then finishing third in the 2020 National Superstock Championship.
“We have had some success over the years and hopefully 2023 will be our best year yet! I can’t thank the team enough for welcoming me back and would like to thank all of the team sponsors and my personal sponsors for making this happen.”
Team owner, Ian Newton said: “We have got an incredible team at IN Competition that I not only trust, but am reassured can have good success with Rollo this coming year.
He will no doubt bring the drive and determination that he showed in 2019 and 2020 to the table. Come rain or shine he will be very competitive. We will continue to have the support of Aprilia and Piaggio UK together with our loyal sponsors.
“We have the infrastructure needed to operate competitive bikes at National Superstock level allowing Rollo to be able to run at the front and achieve those all-important podiums and wins.”
Head of Piaggio/Aprilia UK, Mark Knight, said: “We are very excited about the prospects of the 2023 National Superstock Championship. We welcome back Lewis Rollo into the IN Competition team, riding the latest Aprilia RSV4.
“With the team and Lewis’ previous experience riding the RSV4 during 2020 resulting in a third place finish in the championship, not forgetting Lewis’ first year in Superteens winning the championship, we look forward to a successful season.
“This year will be more competitive than ever before and we at Aprilia UK wish the IN Competition team every success.”
