BSB: Leon Haslam to race for ROKiT BMW Motorrad
Leon Haslam will launch his 2023 BSB campaign with the new ROKiT BMW Motorrad Team.
Leon Haslam will line up on the 2023 BSB grid onboard a BMW M1000 RR in the newly formed ROKiT BMW Motorrad team. Haslam will be onboard the ROKiT BMW Motorrad bike at the Donington Park test.
The deal will see the new BMW Motorrad team enter a multi-year title sponsorship deal with ROKiT. The collaboration with ROKiT and BMW Motorrad already stretches to BMW’s WorldSBK programme.
Haslam will return to BMW Motorrad after already racing for the German manufacturer over 10 years ago. He last raced for the team in the 2011 and 2012 seasons, in the World Superbike class.
Haslam rode the BMW M1000 RR at the Official Navarra Test, where he would be on the pace straight away. He finished the preseason test in second position overall in the combined standings, behind Kyle Ryde.
In 2022 Leon Haslam would race for the VisionTrack Kawasaki last season, as the sole rider for the team. Haslam finished 11th in the Championship standings, ahead of the returning Tom Sykes.
The 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Champion, Leon Haslam would take the title in a dominant fashion. He would win the Championship onboard the JG Speedfit Kawasaki, finishing 70 points ahead of Jake Dixon.
Haslam said: “I am so excited to be able to finally put all this together as it’s been a long few weeks of trying to get it over the line. I would like to thank ROKiT, Completely Motorbikes and all of our sponsors who have been able to make this possible, it’s a dream come true.
“I’ve had a really good winter from a physical point of view, so I am ready for this new challenge in British Superbikes on the BMW M 1000 RR.”
ROKiT co-founder Jonathan Kendrick commented: “We’re really excited to be the Title Sponsor of the BMW Motorrad British Superbike Team and bringing the Pocket Rocket into the ROKiT family.
“This sponsorship augments and enhances our existing partnership with BMW in the World Superbike Championship, so we can now look forward to a very exciting and successful season ahead.”
ROKiT, co-founded by Jonathan Kendrick and John Paul DeJoria said: We have a diverse portfolio of innovative businesses products and services. These include mobile phones, ROKiT Cites (which deploys mass-access out of home wi-fi internationally), a portfolio of drink brands, a large drinks distribution company, a product licensing division, an apparel and accessories range, eBikes and 3D content production, development and distribution of movies and music and will soon launch ROKiT Flix, the only free streaming service for kids.
