BSB: More of the same for Haslam at Silverstone
Leon Haslam’s phenomenal double at Cadwell Park was a firm reminder that he is championship favourite for a reason. The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider enjoyed two tough battles with Jake Dixon and was also subject to controversy with his leg-dangling style.
Race one saw Haslam just hold off Brad Ray and the Buildbase Suzuki team, with Jake Dixon a distant 3rd, whilst in race two, Jake Dixon launched an attack on Haslam at Park corner, nearly hitting his dangling right leg. Dixon failed to make an apex and dropped back to 3rd, whilst Haslam held on ahead of Bradley Ray.
“The results speak for themselves: second on the grid in race one, pole position in race two and two race wins – I couldn’t really ask for any more!
“However, it’s been a tough weekend as we’ve been trying to find the feeling that we had in the test when we were running faster times and pace. The team worked really hard again and it paid off – I had two good battles with Jake Dixon and Brad Ray in both races and look forward to doing it again at Silverstone.”
There has been a big change in the upcoming Silverstone weekend and that is that the circuit layout has changed from the GP circuit to the National circuit. This follows on from the controversial wet weather conditions at Silverstone’s Stowe corner, which could not live up to safety standards and led to the subsequent cancellation of the entire weekend.
