BSB: OMG Racing to become the official Yamaha Motor UK team
Yamaha Motor UK has announced that OMG Racing will become the official ‘Supported Team’ in 2024.
OMG Racing has signed a multi-year deal to become the official ‘Supported Team’ in British Superbike. The team will also receive technical support from Yamaha Motor Racing Europe in 2024.
They will take over from Raceways Motorcycles who have represented Yamaha Motor UK since 2017. Raceways Motorcycles will leave BSB at the end of the season, with Steve Rodgers taking a step back from racing.
OMG Racing first switched to Yamaha machinery in 2022, working closely with the MCAMS Yamaha team. In total Yamaha had an incredible year with OMG Racing and MCAMS sharing 20 race wins.
OMG Racing would also take their first British Superbike title in their first-year racing with Yamahas. Bradley Ray would take 23 podiums and nine race wins throughout the season, impressive the field. Yamaha would also take the Manufacturer’s title at the end of the season, winning by an impressive 278 points.
In 2023, OMG Racing continued their success in 2023 with Kyle Ryde, currently battling for the Championship. Kyle Ryde is currently fourth in the standings, with six podiums and four wins to his name.
Alan Gardner, OMG Racing Team Owner said: “I feel honoured that OMG Racing have been chosen by Yamaha to be their supported team in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, and I would like publicly thank them for showing their faith in us.
“Winning the Championship in our very first year with Yamaha in 2022 was a dream come true for both me and every member of OMG a dream that we all hope to replicate very soon.
“The hard work and dedication of every member of OMG Racing is what makes us who we are, and to see that ethos being recognised by Yamaha is verification that we are doing things right.
“Our first-ever race as a team in 2018 seems like only yesterday! From such humble beginnings, such a short time ago, to now be carrying the flag for Yamaha so to speak, makes me so proud of what my team have achieved.
“Steve Rodgers, Raceways Yamaha, and McAMS have set the bar high, and we intend to keep it that way. On behalf of myself and everyone at OMG along with, I’m sure, the entire Yamaha family. We would like to wish Steve Rodgers a wonderful retirement from racing, but sincerely hope to see him at many races in the future.”
