BSB: Ray returning to title fight “at the right time”
Lydd’s Bradley Ray was back on the British Superbike podium at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire. The Buildbase Suzuki rider put in a sterling effort from the get-go, starting on pole and securing two much-needed 2nd-place finishes.
Qualifying went well and Brad was one of a handful of riders to get under the existing lap record. The 21-year-old sensation would start from pole and looked like a potential podium man from early doors in Free Practice.
In the races, Ray led for the majority of them, just losing out towards the end to Leon Haslam and Jake Dixon. However, race one saw Ray challenge Haslam all the way tip the end, taking 2nd, whereas in race two, Ray was gifted 2nd place after a small run off for Dixon on the final lap, when he tried to pass Haslam under brakes.
Ray said, “To walk away with a double podium makes this an unbelievable weekend. We started on pole too and that is just what we needed. We needed to finish in front of those behind me in the title and we did that, as well as taking big points of riders who were above me,” he concluded.
Looking ahead to Silverstone, Ray is hopeful of more success, stating, “At Silverstone, I hope to gain enough points to secure a spot, but I’ll use my head too. Myself and the team are definitely coming back on form at the right time, we’ve had a tough few rounds but now we have found the issue and more or less solved it. We carry a bit more confidence heading to Silverstone. I believe we have a good chance to be fighting for wins, get ourselves in Showdown and the start the big fight for the championship.”
