BSB: Snetterton Postponed with New Calendar Announcement in June
Despite news this week that the UK Government is beginning to ease lockdown measures we have another casualty in the 2020 season as MSVR and BSB have officially announced that the Snetterton round on the 19-21 June will also be postponed.
There is one silver lining for fans of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, as a new calendar is set to be released on the first week of June.
Whether this new calendar will fit in the rescheduled opening rounds around the existing dates or if the calendar will be further ripped up is unknown.
Further to this theory would be the fact only one of the remaining rounds clashes with its biggest national rival; BTCC, on the 7-9 August. Though BTCC’s rescheduled calendar will see it visit Brands Hatch, while BSB will take up base at Thruxton. While British GT’s new Calendar only has two date clashes, but no circuit clashes. Of course, this still raises the question of what would happen to the already displaced Silverstone, Oulton Park International, Snetterton and Donington Park Triple Header round.
Of course, government guidlines will be a factor and the MCRCB has extended its suspension of BSB events until 30th June. Though social distancing rules and circuits desire for full attendance could put July’s Knockhill and Brands Hatch GP events in doubts.
A solution to the lack of visits could be the increase of triple header rounds, though of course, this may have a knock on affect for the BSB’s support series.
Although the revised 2020 BSB calendar has not yet been revealed, Based on the original calendar, It could look like this;
