BSB: Truelove and Winfield to ride for TAG Racing
TAG Racing have announced the team’s 2023 line-up with Truelove and Winfield onboard the Superstock bike.
Shaun Winfield and Matt Truelove will ride for the TAG Honda team next season, riding the Honda CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade. With Winfield continuing with the team and Truelove moving from InCompetition Aprilia.
Truelove had a year, full of learning with the Aprilia team, finishing seventh in the championship standings. His best results would come at Silverstone and Cadwell Park, with a 13th-place finish.
Winfield raced with the Ashby-based squad in 2022, where he would consistently battle for point-scoring positions. He would finish 11th in the standings, with a best finish of fifth at Snetterton. His results would leave Winfield finishing outside of the top 10 in the championship, by one point.
The TAG Racing team made their debut in the 2009 British Supersport season after five years. They would later make the step up to the Superbike class for the 2014 season. With the team’s best championship result coming in 2017 with Josh Brookes, fininish second in the standings.

Speaking about the move, Truelove said: “It’s great to be joining the TAG Honda team for the 2023 Superstock season. I managed to do the last round of 2022 at Brands Hatch and could see first-hand that they are in it for the right reasons, with equal ambition to myself. Everyone clearly works hard to achieve results, and that is exactly where I want to be.
“I’ve had a couple of bad seasons, so I’m really keen to get back out there and get back up to the sharp end. A big thank you to everyone involved for making it happen, especially to Rob and Gary for this great opportunity. I’m really looking forward to this year!”
Winfield added: “I’m really excited to get going this season after a really promising end to 2022. From no points the year before, to finishing one point shy of tenth in the Championship, I am going into 2023 with a really positive outlook.
“The team were first-class last year, and I believe with their hard work and support we will deliver some top results this season with the new bikes.”
Team Manager Gary Winfield commented: “It’s been great to spend time with Matt and we are pleased to welcome him to the team. After a successful campaign in the Superstock series last year with Shaun, we have bigger and bolder ambitions this year and believe both Matt and Shaun have the experience and the calibre to achieve those goals.
“We are eager to get going with the latest machine after spending a considerable amount of time throughout the winter developing the bike to its utmost potential. It’s great to have Matt and Shaun in the team, and we are excited to get going.”
The first round of the 2023 British Superbike championship will get under on the 7th-9th of April at Silverstone.
