BTCC: Andrew Jordan joins Team BMW for 2020
Team BMW have announced that they’re to run a third car in 2020 with Andrew Jordan behind the wheel.
Jordan joins Tom Oliphant and 2019’s champion Colin Turkington in the team that won this year’s Manufacturers’ title.
This move has occurred due to Jordan’s long-term sponsor Pirtek pulling out of the BTCC at the end of 2019’s dramatic season.
Jordan’s switch in teams secures his fourth consecutive year in a BMW, as he steered his 320i M Sport to second in the Championship last year, only two points behind Turkington.
Combined, Turkington and Jordan won 11 of 2019’s races, and drove to the podium 19 times in 30 highly contested races. Jordan also landed pole position in Round 4 at Croft.
Speaking to the BTCC, Andrew Jordan said:
“I’m thrilled to be returning to the BTCC next season as a Team BMW driver. I think it’s a powerful statement for BMW to have three cars all looking the same on the grid.
“I was single-minded when it came to next season and hadn’t talked to anyone else, which is why I’m so honoured that BMW worked so hard to keep me on-board.
“I hated coming so close this year – just two points shy – but by the same token, that is huge motivation moving forward. I’m raring to go and I’ll come out swinging with Team BMW behind me.”
He is the tenth driver to be confirmed for next season
