BTCC: Dan Cammish fills BTC Racing void at Thruxton opener
BTC Racing have announced that multiple race-winner Dan Cammish will take the team’s vacant seat at the season opener at Thruxton this weekend.
The news comes after Michael Crees’ shock departure only a few days ago.
Despite having re-signed for his previous Porsche Carrera Cup outfit Team Redline Racing, the 32-year-old finds himself straight back behind the wheel of a touring car after leaving Team Dynamics due to sponsorship conflicts.
The Yorkshireman has eight BTCC wins to his name, as well as being a two-time third-place finisher in the standings in 2019 and 2020.
Cammish will drive alongside Jade Edwards and Josh Cook in a familiar FK8 Honda Civic Type R.
Steve Dudman, BTC Racing Owner and Team Principal, said:
“We are absolutely elated to have Dan in the car and joining us for Thruxton, it’s not only fantastic news for BTC Racing but for the championship as a whole too.
“Anybody who has watched the BTCC over the last three years knows Dan’s quality, speed and tenacity. He was very unlucky not to have won the championship a couple of years ago, he’s a driver with incredible pedigree.”
