Team owner Jeff Smith told Paul O’Neil on the BTCC Facebook live slot on Saturday evening that the team has lost one of its major sponsors, but the team pulling out of the championship and selling both their TBLs and both their Honda Civics to another team was a shock to the fans.
“I am incredibly proud of our team and what we have achieved and this has been a very difficult decision to have to come to, but we have been left with no choice, unfortunately. One of our major sponsors, ICD, is currently unable to continue with the level of support they have been contributing.”
“I would like to personally thank all of our team and drivers for their hard work, and our sponsors, technical partners and fans for their support throughout the past four seasons.” – Jeff Smith
The championship has said the team who picked up Eurotech racing cars and licenses will be making their announcement in due course. Eurotech has been a part of the championship since 2006 with team founder Mike Jordan.
Most notably, they won the drivers championship in 2013 with Andrew Jordan, concluding their last weekend with a maiden podium for Brett Smith.
