BTCC: Independent Crown the Ambition for Hill
BTCC race winner Jake Hill is aiming to replicate Rory Butcher’s 2019 season by winning the Independent’s drivers title for AmD Tuning.
The 25-year-old, who previously raced for AmD’s sister team Trade Price Cars, had a breakthrough year in 2019 scoring his maiden win at Knockhill.
He had stood on the top step of the podium earlier in the season at Oulton Park but was later given a penalty following contact with Matt Neal.
But 2020 is the year that he hopes he takes another leap forward in his touring car career. He said:
“My personal ambition is to win the independent’s title just like Rory did with the same car.
“I’m going to try and get as high up in the overall standings as I can and be as consistent as I can be.
“A few things let me down in the Audi last year. A couple were my fault, a couple were mechanical issues that let us down, try and have as clean a run as possible, that’s the aim.”
Hill’s teammate was announced on Thursday (9th January) as Sam Osborne who moves from 2019 newbies Excelr8 Motorsport.
“Sam will have a lot to learn after his first year in an MG, not the best car and a hard way to enter the championship but now he’s in one of the best cars and best independent teams so hopefully he can dig deep and pull some socks out.”
