BTCC: Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport sign Hill
Jake Hill will race for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport in the 2023 BTCC season.
Jake Hill will race in a brand new partnership between Laser Tools Racing and MB Motorsport in 2023. This partnership will see Hill continue with MB Motorsport, which has the support from Mark Blundell.
He will race in a WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, which is the same car that he raced last season. The team will have Laser Tools Racing support, which has been involved in the championship since 2014.
Hill finished third in the 2022 BTCC standings, fighting for the Championship in the last round of the series at Brands Hatch. Hill would take two race wins and 12 podiums throughout his season. He would finish just one point behind the runner-up, Ash Sutton.
Laser Tools Racing has previously sponsored Aidan Moffat Racing, until the end of 2022 when they would part ways. They would have great success with the team, winning the 2021 BTCC championship with Ash Sutton.
Jake Hill said: “When I was told this news, I was massively surprised but completely thrilled too, Laser Tools Racing has a proud history in the BTCC and I cannot wait to fly the flag for them in the series this year.
“They’re a brand completely synonymous with everything that is so good about the championship and I know that the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport combination will prove to be a really strong one this year.”
MB Motorsport Sporting Director, Mark Blundell added: “It is a hugely exciting moment for the MB Motorsport organisation to announce our new title partners in the shape of Laser Tools as we ramp up our preparations for 2023, Laser Tools Racing has already achieved so much within the series and we are proud to be carrying that baton forward now.
“Our discussions have been very productive right from the start and I cannot wait to see what Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport can achieve this year!”
Chairman of Laser Tools, Martin Smith said: We have been very impressed with the team at MB Motorsport and we feel that Jake Hill is a future BTCC Champion, Mark Blundell has demonstrated that the synergy between Laser Tools Racing and MB Motorsport is already obvious.
“We are proud to be still competing in the BTCC and very much looking forward to what is sure to be a very exciting year for us.”
