BTCC: Tom Chilton joins Josh Cook at BTC Racing
Tom Chilton is to join Josh Cook at Northamptonshire team BTC Racing for the 2020 season.
Having spent two years in a Ford Focus RS with Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Gallagher, Chilton will switch to a proven Honda Civic, also operating a front-wheel drivetrain.
Finishing as high as 3rd in the Drivers’ Championship in 2018, and landing 8 podium finishes since his return to the category in 2017, he will surely enter the upcoming BTCC campaign as a title favourite alongside teammate Cook.
Speaking at Autosport International, Chilton said:
“We’ve never been teammates before so I look forward to working with Josh. Last time I raced with Josh he hit me off!
I like how competitive they [BTC Racing] are. They’ve got fantastic engineers onboard and the car itself is very good – I’m very excited.
The chassis is great, a low centre of gravity, stiff and looks good over the curbs.”
Chilton will first be seen competitively at Donington Park on the 28th of March, and will aim to secure at least a second Independents’ trophy.
