Road Racing: Guy Martin Returns To Racing At Cookstown 100
Former international road racing star, and TV personality, Guy Martin will return to road racing at the Cookstown 100.
As part of a short statement on his official website, Martin dispelled the long standing rumours that he had retired from racing: “I have not given up on racing – There’s still unfinished business and I want to race classics and oddball stuff.”
Subject to approval and confirmation from the Cookstown and District Motorcycle Club, the Lincolnshire man will compete in his first race since 2017, when he was part of Honda Racing’s ill fated TT campaign.
Entering as an independent, Martin will be racing his own custom-built 750cc BSA Rocket 3 machine in the Classic Senior race. He had intended to race at Cookstown last year but, due to a lack of replacement parts for gearbox issues, was forced to withdraw just days before the event.
Martin has a strong track record around the course, having secured a double victory in the Superbike class back in 2015. He has also been a regular podium finisher at the 100 throughout his career, and rates the event as one of his favourite meetings of the season.
The 2019 edition of the Cookstown 100 takes place April 26-27.
