Di Giannantonio ‘half happy’ after Argentine GP, ‘expected’ Masia collision
Fabio Di Giannantonio claimed his first podium of the 2018 Moto3 season, after a hard-fought battle with Aron Canet saw the Italian clinch 3rd. This is Fabio’s first podium since Aragon in 2017. It also means that the Gresini Racing Moto3 team have been on the podium in every race since the Australian Grand Prix last season.
“I’m only half happy, because we could have done a bit better. The goal was to push hard straight from the get-go, because just like Bezzecchi we were on ‘wet’ tyres, but I lost a little touch with him,” began the Italian, now 4th in the championship.
“I played my cards best but things were a bit chaotic in the pack and things went how they went, and Masia’s touch was kind of expected. During the last lap, I did all my best to catch Canet, but it didn’t work. It’s good anyway; step by step we’ll get there.”
‘Digia’ will now head to Austin and the COTA circuit, where his best result is 3rd, from last season. In that race, he started from 6th place, on row two.
