F1 Driver Ratings: Singapore 2018
Throw the form book out of the window, and simply applaud the job that Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton did in Singapore over the weekend. Hamilton took a staggering pole position and controlled the race to extend his championship lead to 40 points.
Max Verstappen was every bit as good and took a deserved second place. In a race that he was meant to win, Sebastian Vettel could only manage a third place and now has a very tough job to win the championship.
As per usual, the order you see is the finishing order of the race.

Esteban Ocon: 7/10
Two drivers get that perfect score this week and they were the top two drivers in the race: Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. They both extracted the very best out of their car and were on phenomenal form. Both were in a different league compared to the rest of the field. Their qualifying laps were some of the best I have ever seen and they both drove smartly in the race.
No surprise to see Sergio Perez take the lowest rating (1.5) as he caused his teammate, Esteban Ocon, to retire from the race then deliberately swerved into Sergey Sirotkin. Unacceptable in my opinion and at the very least he should have been given a black flag.
More on that and the rest of the weekend’s stories in my ‘F1 Talk’ article later this week!
