F100 Agrees To Bring Owner Driver Karting Back To Buckmore Park
Buckmore Park Kart Circuit has announced a partnership with F100 Kart Club to secure the return of Owner Driver racing to the circuit in 2021.
Buckmore Park ended its running of its own kart club at the end of the 2017 season for owner drivers but continuing its corporate arrive and drive karts. However, the circuit maintained its MSUK track licence purposely in order to keep the doors open for an opportunity for elite-level racing owner driver racing to return.
F100 Kart Club, established in 2014, has been running race meetings at Buckmore Park since 2015 as part of its highly successful travelling championship featuring new and old ‘classic’ karting engine classes. During extended talks between the two parties, an agreement was made that would see F100 Kart Club host multiple race meetings part of their own championship at the track from the start of 2021, but also marking the return of Owner Driver racing to Buckmore Park Kart Circuit.
Whilst the F100 brand pays homage to the spirit of the ’90s, widely believed to be one of the most popular era’s for karting, these additional race meetings will cater for the modern classes across different age groups. F100 Kart Club consists of the small committee of executives; Tim Wickett, Chris Derrick and Jay Fairbrass. This arrangement between both groups allows for faster decision making and enables the team to react to changes within the karting industry to ensure kart racing continues at Buckmore Park.
Fairbrass commented, “We are extremely excited and honoured to have been invited to look after the Kart Club at Buckmore Park, a venue that is steeped in history and prestige. We are determined to do what ever it takes to carry that mantle forward and have no doubt that Owner Driver kart racing will flourish once more in the park with our grass-roots approach to racing.”
“Our style towards kart racing has become admired and loved by many across the country as we have travelled around visiting other venues with the F100 90’s Tour. I’d personally like to thank all the local drivers and teams for their support in this new project and we can’t wait to unveil our plans within the next few days for 2021 and beyond.”
