FIA F2: Anthoine Hubert Killed after Spa Accident
Anthoine Hubert, BWT Arden driver in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, has succumbed to injuries after a serious accident involving 3 cars at Raidillon at Spa-Francorchamps.
On Lap 2 of the 25 Lap race, the Frenchman Hubert crashed into the outside of the Raidillon corner. Whilst his car spun and slowed after hitting the tyre barrier, Juan-Manuel Correa collected the BWT Arden car at high speed, flipping his car onto its rollhoop. Hubert’s car split upon impact, with the red flags coming out moments after the pair collided to allow the medical and emergency teams to work.
All three drivers were taken to the medical centre, where Giuliano Alesi (also involved) was declared fit and Correa has been moved to the CHU Liége hospital for further treatment. However, Hubert died at 18:35 local time.
