
IOMTT: Raul Torras Martinez dies during Supertwin race
Raul Torras Martinez has died following an incident in Tuesday evening’s Supertwin race.
Raul Torras Martin has died following an incident in the first Supertwin race of the 2023 Isle of Man TT races. The accident occurred at Alpine, between the 16th and 17th-mile marker on the third and final lap of the race.
The road between Douglas Road Corner and Ballaugh Bridge was closed until after the incident at 9:50 pm.
Raul was a highly experienced rider at the Isle of Man TT, making his debut in 2017 onboard a Yamaha R1. In total, Raul competed in 21 TT races, and his performances earned him a total of 18 Bronze Replicas.
The 46-year-old’s best finish at the Isle of Man TT was a 15th finish in last year’s Senior TT. He set an average lap speed of 125.470mph, becoming the fastest Spaniard ever to lap the course.
Raul Torras Martinez also competed in the North West 200 and the Ulster Grand Prix with great success. In this year’s North West 200, Raul Torras finished in 21st position in the Supertwin race.
In a statement, the Isle of Man TT said: “The Isle of Man TT Races pass on their deepest sympathy to Raul’s family, friends, and loved ones.”
