Moto2: Red Bull KTM Ajo announces a brand new line-up for 2024
Red Bull KTM Ajo has announced a brand new Moto2 line-up for 2024.
The Red Bull KTM Ajo team has announced that Deniz Oncu will move up to Moto2 next season. He will be joined by Celestino Vietti next year as he moves from the Fantic Moto2 team.
It’s a brand-new line-up for the Ajo squad in 2024, with Oncu making the step up from the Moto3 World Championship. After spending four full seasons in Moto3 the Turkish rider will step up.
This change in line-up confirms Pedro Acosta’s departure from Moto2 and the Ajo team, with the Spaniard aiming for a MotoGP ride.
Celestino Vietti will race for KTM next season, leaving the recently rebranded Fantic Racing team. Vietti will enter his fourth season in Moto2, first moving to the class with the Sky Racing VR46 Team.
Celestino Vietti is currently sixth position in the standings, after an impressive start to his 2023 season. The Italian has taken two podiums throughout the season, including his first win of the year in Austria.
Celestino Vietti said: “I’m super excited. It’s a great opportunity for me so I am very happy about the news. I have to say thanks to KTM and Aki Ajo for believing in me. Also, thanks to VR46 Riders Academy management, as without them none of this would be possible.
“We still have a way to go before the end of this season, so I have to finish this one the best way with my current team. They helped me to achieve many great results this year. It will also enable me to have the confidence to start the new season well. Thank you so much and see you in 2024.”

Oncu will finally move to the Championship after over four years in Moto3, where he has experienced great success. The 2018 Red Bull Rookies runner-up is currently battling for the Moto3 Championship in fourth position.
Deniz Oncu has taken five podiums throughout the season, including two race wins (his first in Germany). He is currently having the best Moto3 season of his career, including three podiums in a row.
Oncu has already had an opportunity to test the Moto2 bike at the official Pirelli tyre test in Catalunya.
Deniz Oncu said: “I’m very happy to be moving up to Moto2 with Red Bull KTM Ajo. The main goal this season is to improve in Moto3 and get good results to fight for the title. We are doing really well together, like with the victories in Germany and Austria.
“I just want to thank Aki, KTM and Red Bull for their confidence in me and for this opportunity. Thanks also to my manager, Kenan Sofuoğlu, for always supporting me.”
