Moto2: Sam Lowes back to Gresini Racing for 2019
Former World Supersport champion and Moto2 race winner Sam Lowes will return to the Federal Oil Gresini Racing Moto2 team for 2019, leaving the SII KTM team after just one year. The Lincolnshire rider took five pole positions and two races wins in the team back in 2016 and believes that there is unfinished business in Moto2 with the team.
“I am very happy to be working again with Gresini Racing and Federal Oil; we have good memories together and unfinished business from both sides. I have learnt a lot the last couple of seasons and now it’s the time to show it,” said Lowes, who many believe was unfairly dumped out of the Gresini-ran Aprilia MotoGP team.
“I know the high level of this team and have 100% faith in them: my motivation is as high as ever and look forward to enjoying a new successful partnership with Gresini Racing, its partners and sponsors. Onit!”
Sam currently sits 12th in the championship and has a best result of 5th, coming at the German GP at the Sachsenring.
