Moto2: Woes continue for Navarro despite points return
After a miserable series of events leading up to the Dutch TT, Spaniard Jorge Navarro finally made a return to the point scoring positions, albeit with a 13th place for his Gresini Racing Kalex team. The result gives Navarro his first points since the Americas GP, back in April.
Starting from eighth place on the grid, Navarro suffered due to wind and lack of front-end feeling and dropped all the way down to 19th place at some point. A good pace and a smart race race craft, however, allowed the Spanish rider to finish 13th and get a few world championship points.
“It’s clear that it’s not what we want, but in order to get to the top we have to start from the bottom. Today I could not feel the front tyre: it was moving a lot due to the wind and it vibrated under braking a bit too much.
“I decided not to take any risk, especially when I saw some riders crashing ahead of me. It was more than necessary to cross the finish line today, it was way too long since we last did it. We showed we were fast at least on the single lap, so now we need a full positive weekend to put the smile back on our faces.”
