
Moto3: Portimao Test Day One
Moto3 have finished their first of three days of official testing at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (Portimao) here are who the top three were from today and how the Championship favourites did.
Tatsuki Suzuki finished the first day of testing on top with a 1:48.575, the Japanese rider is racing for the Leopard Racing squad this season and has started preseason in a good way.
17-year-old Izan Guevara finished second, the Spaniard has stuck with the GasGas Aspar Team for his second year in the Moto3 World Championship and will want to make a name for himself as a Championship favorite this season.
Third place was the rookie rider, David Munoz, the Spaniard is racing for the BOE SKX team this season and ended his first day of official Moto3 testing 0.283 seconds off of first place.
The now experienced Moto3 rider Deniz Oncu finished fourth place, the Turkish youngster could finally be a Championship contender this year.
Sergio Garcia finished seventh place, after finishing third in 2021 the young Spaniard is definitely a Championship favourite this season.
Red Bull KTM Ajo rider, Jaume Masia, finished eleventh today, last years fourth place finisher has had a slow start to his 2022 campaign.
The top British rider from day one of testing is Scott Ogden, the VisionTrack Racing Team rider finished thirteenth in his first official Moto3 test, a good start for the 18-year-old.
John McPhee finished eighteenth in his first official test with Husqvarna in the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team, it seems like the Scotsman may be on for a long season.
The final British rider on the grid is rookie Joshua Whatley, the VisionTrack Racing Team rider finished in twenty seventh and is just starting his World Championship learning curve.
