MotoGP: Feature: 5 MUST-DO trips whilst at the San Marino GP

La Storia del Sic, Coriano
No one will ever be more prominent in the minds of people from Misano and the surrounding areas on the Adriatic Coast than Marco Simoncelli. Born in Cattolica – just 3 miles from Misano Circuit – he was one of the most popular riders that GP had ever clapped eyes on, and arguably his legacy has only made people love him more. In Coriano, a short journey away from Misano Circuit, a gallery celebrating his life is open and for all to see. From the beginning of his career right up until his last season in the premier class, Simoncelli’s story is told.
Whilst small, it is unique and an absolute must for GP fans. Go on the Monday after the race and embrace the queues to appreciate just how much hundreds of people loved him – as a person and a rider. Admire Coriano’s Church, where at the foot of the steps leading up to the main entrance is a plaque dedicated to the 2008 250cc champion. Coriano itself is full of Simoncelli flags drooped over windows, as well as small bars and cafes where you can sit back and watch the world pass by. Be warned, it is tearful and the emotion of those experiencing the museum will probably bring a lump to your throat, no matter how tough you want to be. It is something that absolutely must be done.
