MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo to miss Sepang test after scaphoid break.
5 time world champion has broken his left scaphoid whilst training in Italy, HRC confirmed Sunday.
Jorge Lorenzo has undergone surgery today in a attempt to fix the broke scaphoid in his left hand, the incident happened whilst the Spaniard was training on a motocross bike on Sunday in Italy.
HRC and himself have confirmed on social media that the surgery performed by Dr Mir was a success, but Lorenzo will stay in for observations for 24 hours. Repsol Honda have also confirmed via there twitter account that Lorenzo will miss the crucial test in Sepang on the 6th of February.
This comes just weeks after surgery was performed on an existing injury sustained to the Spaniards wrist after his horrific crash during free practice for the Thai Grand Prix.
With the testing schedule shortened this year from 3 tests down to 2, Jorge will only have the Qatar test to get his preparations for the 2019 season complete. With it still up in the air whether Cal Crutchlow will be fit enough to ride in Sepang this means the work load on Marc Marquez, Stefan Bradl and Taka Nakagami will potentially be stretched.
With a less than an ideal start to 2019 how will this effect Jorge Lorenzo’s preparation for the season ahead?
