MotoGP: No place for Razgatlioglu with Yamaha in MotoGP
Toprak Razgatlioglu’s chances of riding for Yamaha in MotoGP in the 2023 season have been slashed.
The Yamaha satellite team, WithU RNF, have decided to make the switch to Aprilia for 2023 and 2024. This has taken Yamaha by surprise as they will be down to two bikes on the grid in 2023.
This means that the 2021 World Superbike champion, Razgatlioglu, has less chance of joining Yamaha. This is because they have two riders already signed to their factory team for 2023.
Jarvis said this when asked about Razgatlioglu’s future in MotoGP and his upcoming MotoGP test: “The meaning behind the test was his interest to try the MotoGP™ bike as well. Secondly, it was a bit of a reward from Yamaha for his Championship last year and his continued commitment with Yamaha for the future. So, I think the biggest target for that test remains the same. Relax, test, enjoy and experience the MotoGP™ bike, to get a taste of what it could be like if he chooses to move in the future. But obviously this news of not having a satellite team, in any case, means we don’t have a spot, period, because we will only have two bikes in the factory team.”
He may now use this test to see if he goes well on a MotoGP bike and then begin talks with Yamaha for 2024. However, the Turkish champion could also begin discussion with other manufacturers in MotoGP.
