National Superstock 1000: Elliott gives OMG Racing stunning win at Thruxton
2015 National Superstock 1000 class champion Josh Elliott of Fermanagh in Northern Ireland gave OMG Racing UK Suzuki their first race win since joining the British Superbike family at the start of the season. The team’s Superstock 1000 entrant rode a perfect race from start to finish, battling hard with ex-champion Taylor Mackenzie and FS-3 Kawasaki’s Lee Jackson.
“It has been an amazing weekend from start to finish. From the first session I was fast and comfortable on the OMG Suzuki and I knew we had a great chance to challenge for the win. The race was really close and I certainly didn’t get it easy, but my bike was very strong on fast sections of the track and I was confident I could go for the win!
“It’s an incredible feeling and I can’t thank everyone at OMG Racing enough. The belief and support they have given me is what I’ve been missing and it’s so nice to repay them with a win.”
Elliott joins a growing list of names to have won in the 2018 National Superstock 1000 series, with Keith Farmer, Billy McConnell, Andy Reid and Joe Collier all previously taking wins.
Elliott also becomes one of a select group of riders to have won races in the class for three different manufacturers. In 2015, he won on the Morello Kawasaki, in 2016 on the Tyco BMW and now in 2018 with the OMG Racing Suzuki.
Elliott may now be on a late season charge, as he has won at three of the four remaining circuits on the calendar, whilst he has been 2nd twice on two different manufacturers at Silverstone in the National Superstock 1000 category.
