New Motorsport Facility outside Madrid to Aim for F1 and MotoGP
A new motor racing circuit is planned to be built on the outskirts of Madrid, which the organisers hope could be suitable for Formula 1 and MotoGP once completed.
Situated in Pozo de Guadalajara, a small settlement half an hour from Madrid Airport, Teodoro Baldominos has put forward his proposal to the local authorities with the support of a ‘Spanish Formula 3000’ team, who have chosen to remain anonymous, helping bring together a team of investors. The budget for such project is currently €60million (£55m) and Baldominos is searching for further support, as he explained to Spanish outlet elDiario.es.
The Spaniard has grandiose plans for the venue, including an adjacent premier karting facility, an on-site Hotel, Driving Academy and Museum. The multi-layout venue is estimated to create 120 permanent jobs for the region.
Moreover, the circuit, which will lie in the Castile-la-Mancha region, hopes to attract a tie-in University course with the University of Alcalá, located on the Madrid side of the state border.
It’s about building a key project for the region, which would take advantage of the strategical situation of Guadalajara’s location, merely a few kilometres away from Madrid and the Barajas Airport and it would become a massive revolution for Castilla-La-Mancha and the province of Guadalajara, whom would benefit from an international showcase”.

Before planning can begin, the investor must first meet with the Delegation of the Board in Guadalajara to specify the administrative possibilities of the project. They are yet to receive a declaration of regional interest because it is classified as a Project of Singular Interest (PSI), by the regional government.
As a result, no timescale for building had been announced yet. Both MotoGP and Formula 1 currently race in Spain at alternative venues, though the former has a history of multiple races within the Iberian Peninsula.
