Road Racing: OMG Racing confirms Johnson and Hillier for Roads debut
OMG Racing have confirmed that they will run Australian Davo Johnson and former Kawasaki rider James Hillier as part of their debut year on the roads.
The team announced their plans to compete on the roads for 2020 alongside their British Superbike Championship campaign with Luke Mossey and Hector Barbera.
Johnson rode for Honda during the 2019 season, whilst Hillier took to the TT Course onboard the Kawasaki ZX10RR for one final time as the pair switch to the S1000RR for both Superstock and Superbike action and the Yamaha R6 for Supersport.
Johnson, who made his debut in 2010 – becoming the fastest newcomer with a 123.838mph lap, said:
“I’m extremely happy to sign for OMG Racing for the 2020 roads season, they are an amazing bunch of people who are dedicated to their racing and put their riders front and centre.” – Davo Johnson
Johnson took his first TT podium at the 2019 TT, finishing third in the Superstock race after a final lap dice with Michael Dunlop.
Teammate for 2020, James Hillier, has also enjoyed much success on the roads, picking up 14 podiums as well as a TT race win with Pete Extance’s Bournemouth Kawasaki team. Hillier commented:
I’ve had an affinity with Kawasaki for 14 years now and switching machines throws up its own challenges, but I’m really excited by it all. I’m really looking forward to a new chapter in my career for 2020 with OMG Racing and riding the new BMW S1000RR and Yamaha R6.” – James Hillier
The 2020 season kicks off in April with Cookstown, the North West 200 will take place in May before the Isle Of Man TT action kicks off in June.
