Sebastian Alvarez Becomes Double R’s First F4 2018 Signing
Karting graduate Sebastian Alvarez has become the first driver to put pen to paper with Double R Racing ahead of the 2018 F4 British Championship season.
The Mexican driver has already made his debut in the car, competing for the team during the inaugural test at Brands Hatch Indy. He would finish ninth out of the eleven drivers, though was further up the order during a wet afternoon session.
He will make his single-seater debut in the series, having previously competed in the CIK-FIA World Championship, the highest rank of karting, while winning the 2011 Super Karts Cadet Cup in Mexico and the 2015 Florida Winter Tour Rotax Mini Max Championship.
As the eighth official name to be announced for the upcoming season, pressure will be on to put in strong performances early on.
“I’m really excited to join Double R and looking forward to the start of the season,”
“The car is great to drive, the guys at the team are really professional and fantastic to work with. I’m sure we’re going to have a good season. It’s great to be racing in British F4 this year.” – Sebastian Alvarez
Double R team principal Anthony Hieatt was delighted to reveal their first driver.
“We’re very much looking forward to working with Sebastian, he’s a talented young driver and brings good experience from karting where he’s a championship winner already.
“British F4 is the logical first step for any driver coming out of karting and I’m sure Sebastian is going to make very strong progress throughout the season. We’re delighted to announce him as our first British F4 driver this year and looking forward to a competitive season together.” – Anthony ‘Boyo’ Hieatt
Double R ran two further names; Paavo Tonteri and Keirn Jewiss, during the first test last month, with the latter putting in the fastest time of the day.
British F4 has said that two further drivers will be revealed this week.
